Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a health care method used to correct problems in the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system which have resulted in disorders, including pain or dysfunction in the body systems. Most patients come to our office with neuromusculoskeletal complaints such as neck pain or back pain, but they quickly realize with some education that our general health is affected by the position of the spine in relationship to the spinal nerve roots. Pressure on spinal nerves causes more than pain from a 'pinched nerve'. The subluxation complex is the term used to describe the 'dis-ease' (movement away from health) which is caused by the interruption of flow of the brain's messages  down the spinal cord and out specific nerve roots. The result of spinal nerve pressure may include headaches, dizziness, difficulty tasting or swallowing, arm pain, neck pain, hormonal changes, difficulty getting a deep breath, heartburn, rib pain, lower back pain, constipation, diarrhea, menstrual challenges, leg pain, and a host of other conditions.

Chiropractors are Doctors of Chiropractic. We use our hands to correct spinal misalignments in order to restore healthy function to the spine, as well as the rest of the body, in order to improve health. Evaluation of the patient will often include inspection of patient's movement ad posture, examination of the spine and extremities, orthopedic and neurological assessment, motion and passive palpation examination, instrumentation findings for inflammation, digital x-ray evaluation, diagnosis of the condition, explanation of treatment, and the chiropractic adjustment.

The chiropractic adjustment is the tool used to correct spinal subluxation complexes which cause nerve interference. The goal is to restore health functioning of the joints which are restricted in their motion. This is done through a controlled movement called a thrust. The adjustment will add mobility to the affected joint with the goal of restoring function and health.
